Rug Atelier Tasmania
Supplying beautiful rugs to Tasmania at an affordable price
Elevate your home with a beautiful wool rug
Rug Atelier Tasmania began from the frustrations of finding the perfect rug for our own home. We found there were limited options to buy large wool rugs in Tasmania and were shocked at the cost of shipping from interstate. We wanted to see and feel the products rather than buy online and hope for the best. So we started the journey of sourcing beautiful wool rugs to supply to Tasmania while cutting out the middle man and the ridiculous shipping costs!

Our range of quality wool blend rugs
We stock a variety of handwoven wool blend rugs in neutral tones. We select our range based on popular styles, natural fibre-based materials and timeless colour palettes.
Premium New Zealand Wool Blend Collection
Our Premium New Zealand Wool Blend collection adds warmth and style to any space. The textured weave and gentle marled effect emphasise the natural wool colour variations making it easy to suit all colour palettes. The collection is available in five neutral colours, five weaves and four sizes. An extra backing layer is also available for most weaves and colours.

A bit about Rug Atelier Tasmania
We love rugs!
We absolutely love helping people find the perfect rug for their space. Rugs create a warm and inviting home and enhance your living space. A rug can be the perfect way to elevate your style while also being practical for our cold Tasmanian climate.
Where are we located?
While our business is growing and to help maintain affordability, we are currently operating out of our home in South Launceston. Our doors are open for viewings by appointment. We frequently travel around Tasmania visiting our happy customers and can arrange delivery outside of Northern Tasmania. We also offer free delivery to anywhere in Victoria.

Sustainability
Sustainability is important to Rug Atelier Tasmania and we are continually working to improve our sustainability outcomes.
Our rugs are all handcrafted in India at facilities that undergo strict annual audits to assess standards of labour, health and safety, environment, and business ethics. This ensures that child labour is prohibited, our incredible artisans always have safe and hygienic working environments, that a reasonable work schedule is provided, there is a freedom of choice in employment, and toxic substances are not released into the environment.
Rug Atelier Tasmania only procures rugs in clear plastic packaging and cardboard to ensure all packaging materials can be recycled at the Launceston Waste Centre.
Rug Atelier Tasmania is exploring the recycling of customer’s old rugs (e.g. TRAKS) with the aim of diverting rugs and textiles from landfill.

Rug specifications
Rug construction process
Our collection is handcrafted in India using a loomed and knotted technique that results in unique and individual pieces. As a result, minor variances in colour and inconsistencies such as sprouts in weaves and exposed weave connections can occur. These are naturally occurring features and not considered defects. Some rug styles may shed due to the natural fibres used. Be aware that children or infants may put these fibres in their mouths.
Rug cleaning & care
If well cared for your wool rug will last a lifetime. Ensure all spills are cleaned immediately by blotting with a clean sponge or cloth. Vacuum lightly and along the weave. Avoid the use of beater-bar type vacuums as they may cause yarns to pull or snag. If this happens, avoid pulling yarn knots out of the surface pile. Use scissors to clip them off evenly.
We do not recommend placing the rugs in high-traffic areas, under moving furniture, or in areas frequented by pets. Bunching or curling can result from inhibiting the natural movement of the rug or if they are placed on carpet. Bunching or curling is not a defect. An anti-slip rug pad or underlay is recommended on smooth surfaces.
Returns & damages
Once unpackaged, we do not offer a refund or exchange of rugs for change of mind or incorrect selection (including incorrect size) unless faulty or damaged. Please inspect your rug upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective or damaged to allow us to evaluate the issue and resolve it for you.
